Catering Guidelines

The following guidelines are established to assist you when planning to have an off campus vendor provide catering services to University events.

Campus Dining Services have first right of refusal on all campus catering events. Therefore, approval from Dining Services is needed prior to making a catering arrangement with an off campus caterer. Contact UCen Dining Services at 893-2465. Click here to download the Campus Catering Permit.

After obtaining approval from UCen Dining Services, request that the catering vendor you intend to use, send a copy (mail, fax, or e-mail) of the following two items to the University (see addresses below) at least two weeks prior to the event.

1. Health Permit issued to the catering facility by Santa Barbara County Public Health Department.

2. Certificate of Insurance.

Certificate of Insurance and S.B. County Health Permit should be sent to:
University's Business Services
Lee Mudrick
Insurance Administrator
UC Santa Barbara Risk Management
Environmental Health & Safety
Santa Barbara, CA 93106
Phone: 805-893-2860
Fax: 805-893-8521
E-mail: Lee.Mudrick@buss.ucsb.edu

You will be contacted after your request has been processed.

The University requires the catering facility to adhere fully to the University policies and procedures. In addition, the caterer must comply with Santa Barbara County Public Health Department Requirements for Temporary Food Facilities. The University (Dining Services and Environmental Health & Safety) reserves the right to monitor and inspect the food distribution by non-campus caterers to University events in order to ensure compliance with the requirements.
