Definition: The Fire Prevention Division works with the UCSB Community and Administration by enforcing state fire prevention codes. These fire and life safety standards include assisting with identifying and eliminating workplace fire hazards, and approval of building and renovation projects to ensure compliance with state fire and life safety codes.
Mission: To enable the campus community to maintain and promote instructional and research goals while providing technical expertise and safe practice standards as defined by state codes and the CA State Fire Marshal.
Implementation: The Fire Prevention Division is available by appointment to provide technical consultation regarding specific fire and life safety concerns. Annual inspections are conducted of areas, which historically require monitoring, and deficiencies are examined and reviewed in order to create solutions, which meet state safety requirements and satisfy the needs of the campus.
