  • Disposal of Hazardous Wastes
  • Emergency Response

Supervisor Responsibilities

Obviously, EH&S can not address the specific hazards and procedures used in each lab. It is important that you ensure that lab-specific safety training has been done to:

  • minimize the potential for worker injury
  • meet regulatory requirements
  • meet UC policy requirements
  • provide you personal liability protection

Per the UC Policy titled Laboratory Safety Training (2013), supervisors are not only tasked with ensuring documentation of any needed training, but also with completing a Training Needs Assessment for each worker to initially define what training is appropriate. In order to provide lab supervisors with a single place to complete their assessments, document the training and point out other available training resources, a form is provided here:

Please complete and file this form for each laboratory supervisee. It should be reviewed and updated periodically as needed. Please direct any questions on this program to your local Department Safety Representative, or to EH&S.
